The name Turquoise is derived from the French, pierre turquoise, meaning “Turkish stone, due to the fact that the trade routes from where it came all passed through Turkey in Ancient times.
Turquoise is an opaque, blue green mineral and in its rare and valuable finer grades is a much sought after and prized gem and ornamental stone. Turquoise is said to have healing properties as an anti-inflammatory for rheumatism and the stomach. Turquoise assists with problems of the brain, eyes, neck and throat. Emotionally it is said to bring happiness and dispel negative energy.
